OVERVIEW

General information : Atlantic 1/3° analysis of temperature and salinity observations on 59 horizontal levels from 5 to 1950 m. This analysis (CORA_ATL_01) has been produced as a delayed mode analysis of the content of Coriolis data base in april 2005.
Processing information : The analysis is performed on horizontal levels. Temperature and salinity variables are produced independently. The estimated variable is the anomaly relative to a monthly climatology, it is obtained as the solution of an optimal estimation problem where covariance matrices of data and field are specified.
Suitability, Expected type of users / uses targeted main uses :

  1. provide a data based reference for comparison with numerical models outputs
  2. study ocean variability
