OVERVIEW

General information: The Blended Mean Wind Field is a global product (80S to 80N and 180W to 180E) including wind components (meridionnal and zonal), wind module, wind stress and the corresponding components.
They are estimated from near real time satellite observations (QuikScat scatteromter and SSM/I radiometers) and ECMWF operational wind analysis. The spatial and temporal resolutions are 0.25x0.25 degrees in longitude and latitude, and 6 hours.
The blended products are available at synoptic time 00h:00; 06h:00; 12h:00; 18h:00 with a short delay from the real time (24 hours in a nominal mode).
This product is processed at the IFREMER CERSAT data center within the Mersea project.

Description of observation methods/instruments: is given in a pdf file

Quality / Accuracy / Calibration information: is given in a pdf file

Suitability, Expected type of users / uses: for circulation models, oceanography, interaction ocean-atmosphere, climate
