Proposed working schedule on R/V Poseidon cruise POS 330

Las Palmas - Las Palmas (November 20th. to December 3rd, 2005)

The main goal of this R/V Poseidon cruise will be the maintenance of the DOLAN permanent surface buoy, deployed in 3.600 m water depth 60 nm north of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On the surface buoy itself several electronic components will be maintained/changed. It is planned to replace the short distance radio link by a wireless LAN communication link. In addition, a new CAN bus interface will be installed in parallel to the serial RS232 sensor link (ORBCOMM, 2 x MicroCat TS). The CAN bus interface is more reliable to communicate over longer distances. Especially the Nutrient analyzer (NAS) and the Fluorometer, both deployed at 100 m water depth below the buoy, shall be implemented into the CAN telemetry. In addition, another MicroCat will be implemented at this water depth. Hopefully, starting after this cruise the online data are accessible via the ORBCOMM link (0.5 m, 10 m; T,S) and via IRIDIUM link (100 m; Nutrients, Chlorophyll, T,S) and weather data (Wind speed, direction, air pressure, temperature, humidity).
