Overview The main objective of GOSUD  (Global Ocean Surface Underway Data Pilot Project) is to collect, process, archive and disseminate in real time and delayed mode, sea surface salinity and other variables collected underway, by research and opportunity ships.
Products Gosud data will be provided by the Coriolis data center which is already serving MERCATOR, TOPAZ and MFS. We will first concentrate on salinity measurements acquired by Research Vessels and Commercial Ships.
  • Underway Thermosalinograph date within 24h after acquisition
  • Delayed mode data corrected  by using bottle samples analysis and/or instrument calibration information if necessary within one year

R&D Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) is an important parameter for which we lack data. Whit the arrival soon of SSS from space, in-situ high quality data will be essential to calibrate the satellite instrument and to monitor their behaviour in time

Therefore work will be carried out within MERSEA to improve delayed mode quality control procedure especially in Atlantic and Mediterranean sea.
