A user can easily
install the MERSEA Download desktop application on its desktop. Thanks
to it the user is able to browse and save as netCDF file subsets of the
distributed MERSEA data repositories.
A user-friendly
interface (GUI) is provided so that a user can browse datasets and
select subset easily. The user can then save the selected subset as a
local netCDF file or get the OPeNDAP resources URL and use it into a
data analysis tool.


When a user is an
operational application, the software can be called in batch mode and
the 'search/subset/save as netCDF' functions can be requested
programmatically.

- For Microsoft Window, without
JRE : download it and run the 'merseadc-setup' executable (JRE
required).
- For Microsoft Window, with JRE :
download it, decompress it and run the 'merseadc-setup' executable.
- For Linux, without JRE :
download and run the 'merseadc-setup.bin' script (JRE required).
- For Linux, with JRE : download,
decompress it and run the 'merseadc-setup.bin' script.
- Universal installer : download
and run 'java -jar merseadc-setup.jar' (JRE required).

this application is a prototype and
therefore may still have some bugs. That's why we want to know who are
the users of this interface and also get your feedback to improve the
tool
